Driftwood 4 34

Driftwood 4 34

When I wrote this episode I didn’t really know what kind of education you need to become a stock broker, only that it was the epitome of a boring job according to many Monty Python sketches (I virtually grew up with those guys). So, in the original, I only wrote something like “when I graduate from stock broking school”. For the English translation, I figured it could be fun to mention the two exams Seraphine would have to take if he’d become a stock broker in the USA, for instance. Their names sound abstract enough to be used in the bureaucratic structures of this strange place called Urbs Aeternis, a city grown around a vast library where records of all lives that ever have existed in all the universes are stored. (The streets and buildings there are actually built onto the walls of the library. Maybe I should make a spin-off story set there that would explain more about it, because it’s not described in much detail in the main comic. Ah, so many comics ideas, so little time …)
