{"id":1721,"date":"2012-06-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kommiekomiks.com\/driftwood\/?p=1721"},"modified":"2023-02-04T21:24:32","modified_gmt":"2023-02-04T21:24:32","slug":"driftwood-9-53","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.black-pig-comics.com\/driftwood\/?p=1721","title":{"rendered":"Driftwood 9 53"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[Yay I fixed the apparently invisible typo too &#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>I tried to cram in some backgrounds here, in spite of the continuing &#8220;talking heads&#8221; &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I had the nerve to take some liberties with the geography in the first panel, because that house on the corner with John Street was so nice (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/47094736@N03\/4663976709\/in\/photostream\">photo a<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/47094736@N03\/4319745459\/in\/photostream\">photo b<\/a>). :3 They actually came down to Sunderland Road from Howe Street, and John Street is <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=d&amp;source=s_d&amp;saddr=54.955472,-1.584606&amp;daddr=&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;sll=54.955374,-1.583651&amp;sspn=0.003419,0.010568&amp;vpsrc=0&amp;t=h&amp;mra=mift&amp;mrsp=0&amp;sz=17&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;z=17&amp;iwloc=ddw0\">a few blocks away to the east<\/a>. (Or was, because it&#8217;s been flattened now &#8211; not sure what will replace <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/47094736@N03\/4664604044\/in\/photostream\">the old terraced houses<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Then, they walk past the tower blocks <a href=\"http:\/\/fields.eca.ac.uk\/gis\/?p=477\">Tennyson Court and Eslington Court<\/a> (somewhat visible in the background of panel 5 &#8230;), then past the cemetery (panel 6), until they start to close in on the office buildings <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geolocation.ws\/v\/W\/File:Chad%20House%20and%20Bede%20House%20-%20geograph.org.uk%20-%2071294.jpg\/-\/en\">Chad House, Bede House and Aidan House<\/a> (last panel), which we already know from <a href=\"http:\/\/kommiekomiks.com\/driftwood\/?p=1349\">the beginning of this chapter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are many interesting historical photos from around this time in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/47094736@N03\/\">John M.
